Photography: Quality over Emotion?

Sometimes I catch my self browsing through old sessions. Usually there is the initial, "Oh my gosh... I've gotten better. Thank goodness!" BUT once I get passed that, I tend to get a flood of memories. Trying out new setting on my little rebel. Trying to tell people how to pose.. oh my. Was that an adventure a year a go. ( STILL IS! :P)

This session has always been one of my favorites. I think often photographers, especially beginners like my self, become so wrapped up in the mechanics of a photo. The PERFECT lighting. Focus. Aperture, ect. It's sessions like this that remind me why I do photography. To capture emotion. Relationship. It is so much more then an image quality. Lizi, my sister, (in the blue), and Erin (in the yellow) have a beautiful friendship. I love watching them talk and laugh together because they just love each other so much. And I wanted to capture that. I know there are photos that evening I would have done differently, but honestly, this session will always be dear to my heart. I couldn't not post it. And I'm not afraid to say these are not my best in photo-terms. But this is what I want to capture as a photographer. It's process. I'm learning how to get emotion AND quality.
