Being woken up at 7:00 in the morning is not exactly ideal,
but to over 4 inches of snow...one can manage! :) The most magical thing I've seen in a long time. Powder piled in ever corner of my little world. Silence everywhere. No cars, no traffic. Every word muffled by snow. My car was piled with layers of white fluff... and maybe a little ice. I learned something new! Don't leave your wind shield wipers mid swiped; especially when its going to snow. Take note, dear drivers, as unobservant as me. Thankfully I have the best dad whose first task of the day is to wake me up to see snow and second to scrape my wind shield to make sure it doesn't freeze over.

This being the most snow (I remember) seeing and experiencing, we concluded a snowman was necessity. It was harder than the movies make it look. The rolling process was less than iconic. Our gloves were not very "snow proof." Very soggy business. We added our own flare to our little rounded powder man. We tried out a few styles, the first was by far my favorite. We called him "Mehmet". Arab scarf and a fez for him. :)
Next on my list of snow day activities was some self portraits. I'm not very skilled in this realm of things, so practice can be pretty frustrating. Sticks for pre-focusing, ten second timers, and a lot of unfocused gooby shots of me running and sliding into camera view.
Overall this was by far the best snow day I have ever had. My feet froze, my hands were soggy, and I couldn't stop running around. I learned a few things this day.
1. Turn your wind shield wipers off- Always!
2. Rain boots were made for rain NOT snow
3. Poodles get cold fast
4. Fluffy hooded coats make for fun photos
5. Snow is simply wonderful
