5 Tips For Better Sleep

These are some tips that work for me:

1. CHECK IT: Make a check list before bed. "But i hate check lists!!" Maybe, but the point is that everything you have to get done the next day is written down - no need to worry about forgetting to call the dentist for an appointment or returning that book to the Library. Write Down each thing you need/want to do the next day.

2. DRINK UP: Like I said, this is by my experience. Dehydration is a weekly struggle for me. I just never think about drinking water... Sounds silly, but when i drink water all day I fall asleep easier that night. I feel better in general any ways!

3. JUST DO IT: Ugh... I'm so tired of hearing exercise helps.. "It helps EVERYTHING!". Honestly I don't exercise nearly as much as I should, but each day that I do I fall asleep minutes after hitting the pillow. Even 20 minutes day. Although try to avoid it before bed or you will be all pumped and energized. Haha that's no fun trying to calm down and fall asleep.

4. LIMIT IT: Stay away from caffeine and heavy dinners. We all know coffee is ruthless past 6:00 p.m, but heavy dinners are for me also. Despite how warm and "sleepy" you feel after Thanksgiving, my experience is that i don't sleep well I just sleep long... I try to make my big meal Breakfast or even lunch. Also try limiting sugar intake at night. That is when you can... haha I don't do this very well, but sugar stimulates mind and makes you have a "sugar rush".. doesn't sound like sleep, eh?

5. TAKE MOMENT: I am still working on this, but I have been told and experienced better sleep when i take 30 minutes for myself before bed. I am majorly guilty of turning out the light and spending maybe an hour or more on my phone blogging and youtubing.  Instead of that try stuff that calms you down that you enjoy like journaling, drawing, listening to music, editing photos, ect. Anything you really like to do but isn't necessary. Just fun. Studies show people need at least 30 minutes a day to them selves doing nothing or something just for them. Like in my Bio never stopping is my strength, but also my weakness. I am talking to people till the minute i turn on my light till the minute it goes off. I struggle with making time just for ME. I highly recommend this simply as a stress avoider also. Which leads me to my overall thoughts..

Stress causes lack of sleep and lack of sleep causes stress. A vicious cycle to get trapped in. I can honestly say stress has  become the 'norm' for me, but I have to get good sleep! These are my tips that help me, but to be honest getting more sleep is really the best thing. I don't have that option at this point in my life. I over commit too often and am working on saying no. In the mean time I attempt to simply get deep good sleep in the hours i do get. These are what work for me. Comment below if you have any other tips!
